ISRAELA MARGALIT is a playwright, TV writer, concert pianist and recording artist. Her honors include an Emmy nomination, a Gold Medal at the New York Film & TV Festival, two NEA Media Awards, Best Play Honorary Mention at the New York Short Play Festival, and Finalist at the Long Island Film Festival. Her plays Trio, Night Blooming Jasmine, Get Me a Guy, 3 O’clock in Brooklyn, and First Prize have been produced in New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Peck Theater Festival in Hungary. Her television specials for Arts & Entertainment, PBS, Germany’s ZDF, ARD, Transel, and Deutsche-Welle were shown in more than twenty countries. She appeared as a piano soloist with the world’s greatest orchestras including the American Big Five of New York, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, and Philadelphia, and the Berlin, London, and Moscow Philharmonics. Her recordings for EMI, Universal, Decca, Chandos, Koch Int., Black Box, and Telarc won the British Music Industry Award, Best CD, and were selected as Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice. In addition to serving as a member of The Lark’s board, she serves on the international board of trustees of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the advisory council of the 92Y Tisch Center of the Arts, New York, and the advisory board of the Fire This Time emerging black playwrights festival. She is the founding Artistic Director of politiKos 2015, a New York Political Theater Festival.
